Week 2 Action Research

Dr. Johnny Briseno, Principal, Rancho Isabella Elementary, Angleton ISD
He mentioned that when one of his teachers are trying something new and its working with their kids, they expose it to the other teachers, which is peer learning.  Teachers need to be aware of the students’ background to be able to teach their students.  They find out what types of students are they and what is it that makes those kids work.  Exposing this types of information makes the upper grade teachers aware of what types of learning styles are working with the lower level students and gives them a heads up on their soon to be students.  It also gives them information of what types of background students they will be having and what to expose them too.

Dr. Kirk Lewis, Superintendent, Pasadena ISD
His school is a Data driven.  The date is apply to instructional strategies.  Data changes the way the instruction is delivered.  As they progress through the program they have to make sure the data is in place to be able to go back and see where there is a progress and what is helping. Its best to continue doing the research yearly to see the outcome of the research.

Dr. Briseno and Dr. Lewis has made an addition to my learning in action research.
Education needs to be exposed to action research to keep learning and improving education.
Education action research is a key to better our school and improve our students success in Education.

Action Research

Administrative inquiry or Action research is used to improve or analyzing behaviors or situations.  It gives an opportunity to reflect on the actions taken and seeing the results, giving you the opportunity to improve.  The best part is that in involves the person or persons affected, so they can see the benefits and improve if something is not working as planned, because you are the one in the situation of improvement.
Action research in educational settings involves more than one personnel.  An example of action research in educational settings is when the superintendent uses action research for improvement of their principals instead of professional development.  Having an action research banquet when the year ends makes me believe it was a complete success, and everyone shares their action research, to keep the professional learning community going.

Team learning inquiry with the leadership team is another way of action research used by principals.  This assures the principal the leadership team is learning.  Which then makes them a professional learning community.

Principals are instituating action research for their teachers as a powerful form of professional development, not only that principals are also using it with other principals and doing action research on their administrations of their schools.

The benefits of conducting action research is that you and co-workers in your field are completely involve in finding a solution or an improvement in a certain situation affecting all.  What better way to improve education than by having action research from within your own personnel.

How educational leaders use blogs

Educational leaders might use blogs to update teachers daily.  It could also be used to update parents of current events happening at the schools.  It would reenforce communication with parents during bad weather and closings of the schools.
